Christopher Maher played Deputy Prime Minister Barghouti during Season 2 of 24.

Biography and career[]

Maher was born in Alexandria, Egypt as Maher Boutros. His family moved to Toronto in the 1960s. Maher initially started studies in medicine, but switched to acting. In 1978, he started his career as an actor in New York, studying under Sandy Meisner. During that time, Maher acted on stage and on soap operas like Another World. In 1981, he moved to Los Angeles where he has continued to work in numerous TV shows and films.

Aside of his career as an actor in film and television, Maher is a nationally acclaimed chef who is recognized by the James Beard foundation as one of the great regional chefs of America. He has cooked for some famous world leaders, including the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. He currently lives in the mountains of Taos, New Mexico with his wife and two sons, but regularly works between Los Angeles and New York.
