Arson, in general, is the crime of voluntarily setting fire to a building or other property of another, or possibly of burning one's own property for an improper purpose.

Before Day 1[]

A career criminal named Greg Penticoff was charged with arson along with other convictions prior to Day 1.

Day 1[]

Doctor George Ferragamo, Keith Palmer's therapist prior to Day 1, threatened to go forward with evidence implicating Keith in. Before he could do so, Carl Webb had him killed through arson. David Palmer was confident that the fire was arson and that Carl was involved. Carl later met with Palmer, he told him that evidence was placed at the crime scene that would implicate Keith in Ferragamo's murder. The evidence would be discovered by the fire marshal if they were pointed in the right direction. Keith soon met with Carl and accused him of being complicit in the death of Ferragamo. Carl told Keith that he was "over his head" and that the he would be implicated in Ferragamo's death if he didn't back off. Carl was unaware that Keith was wearing a wire and that the whole conversation was recorded. Keith handed over this recording to his father and David Palmer later revealed the truth to the media.
