When Jack Bauer and Paul Raines uncovered vital information during their investigation at McLennen-Forster, the executives of the company decided to silence them to protect themselves instead of cooperating. Barnet was among several guards ordered by Dave Conlon to find the two men. He radioed to Conlon at about 6:56pm to report his progress.
