Bashar Mounzer Rahal (born October 20, 1974; age 49) played General Wasim during Season 8 of 24.

Biography and career[]

Bashar was born in Dubai, to a Bulgarian mother and a Lebanese father. His family moved back to Bulgaria when he was 6 years old. Bashar developed an interest in acting at an early age, becoming a member of a professional theater group when he was 14 years old.

Bashar's first film role came when he was only 15, on the 1989 film 1952: Ivan i Aleksandra. After that, he has appeared in other Bulgarian films. He eventually graduated from the First English Language High School in Sofia, and attended the National Academy of Theater and Film Art, receiving a Master's degree in Dramatic Arts.

In 1999, Bashar moved to California with his wife, to pursue a career in acting. He also graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles. He has since appeared in films like Nowhere to Hide (with Kevin Sizemore), War, Inc. (with Ned Bellamy), The Tournament (with Robert Carlyle), Conan the Barbarian, The Legend of Hercules (with Liam Garrigan and Rade Serbedzija), and The Expendables 3.

Bashar also appeared in The Unit, along with Dennis Haysbert, Max Martini, and Kavita Patil.
