"5" was the codename used by one of the thirteen members of the prion variant cabal when communicating through their anonymisation software. The cabal conspired to commit several terrorist acts against the United States during Day 7.
When one of the cabal leaders, Jonas Hodges, broke with their plan and stole the prion variant pathogen for himself, the other twelve cabal members reached the consensus that Hodges had a psychotic break. They sent their primary operative, Cara Bowden, to coerce Hodges to commit suicide by threatening his family.
At around 3:19am, the group held an online meeting moderated by Bowden where they decided if they should use their prion bioweapon during the day, or if they should continue with their other plan of replicating it and then using it in six months. Number 5, Alan Wilson, O'Niel, and Marr were the primary speakers. The most influential member of the cabal, Wilson, persuaded them all to vote in favor of carrying out the attacks.
