Cal was a mechanic who was forced to open up the Sentox VX nerve gas canisters on Day 5.

Ivan Erwich showed up at the shop while all of Cal's co-workers were at lunch. Threatening Cal with a gun, Erwich had Cal cut the Sentox canisters very precisely, so that they could be armed. When Cal started to ask questions, Erwich asked if he had a family. Cal said that he was married, and Erwich told him that his own wife was in jail and his son in a state run facility. Erwich promised to spare Cal's life once his task was complete, but shot him in the stomach instead.
