Carl was a college wrestler and football player, and appeared in the popular "Stunt Show" at Knott's Berry Farms. He has been working in the film and television industry since 1977. He has appeared as a guest star and has also had co-starring roles in many television programs and feature films,
Carl became a member of the Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures in 1985 and was president from 1992 until 1996. He has served on the Board of Directors for the National League of SAG Stunt Performers, and is currently serving his second term at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as Governor of the Stunt Peer Group, which he helped to form in the year 2000. In 2001 he was a key player in establishing the first Emmy Award for Outstanding Stunt Co-ordination.
