The Caspian Sea, the largest lake on Earth and a major feature of Eurasian landmass, was the location of oil drilling interests owned by an oil consortium prior to Day 2.

Before Day 2 Edit

At least three members of the consortium wished to increase the value of their holdings, and engineered an elaborate conspiracy to drive the United States and three Middle Eastern nations to war for fabricated reasons. The conspirators, including Max and Alexander Trepkos, had Alex Hewitt create the Cyprus recording and hired Peter Kingsley to manage their plot.
