Cheng Zhi, the head of security at the Chinese consulate, threatened to send Howard Bern for an 18-day journey from San Diego to Hangzhou on the China Queen unless he divulged the name of the person responsible for the raid on the Chinese consulate.

At 6:45am Jack Bauer was kidnapped by some men. He was taken aboard the China Queen and confronted by Cheng Zhi. Cheng told him that they had not forgotton what happened at the consulate during Day 4, and that he was going to pay. It was then revealed that the China Queen was carring Bauer, Cheng, and other men to China.
