The United States Coast Guard was a branch of the United States armed forces tasked with policing and patrolling America's coastline.

To trick Jack Bauer into falling into Victor Drazen's trap, CTU double agent Nina Myers lied to Jack and told him that his daughter Kim's body had been found in the harbor. Later, when Drazen had been eliminated, Jack asked a Coast Guard officer to claim Kim's body and discovered that Nina had been lying to him, proving that she was working with Drazen all along.
