David Joel Barrera (born December 28) is an actor who portrayed Officer Phillips during Day 1.

Biography and career[]

David Barrera was born in San Juan, Texas. He is the seventh of eight children. David attended Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, where he was involved in Theatre. Later, he received his BFA from Southern Methodist University on a Theatre scholarship. He went on to receive his MFA from The University of California, San Diego, where he garnered a San Diego Fellowship and was awarded The Princess Grace Acting Scholarship in his third year.

Barrera began his professional acting career in 1995 in the film No Way Back (with Francois Chau). After that, he has appeared in other films like Eye for an Eye (with Kiefer Sutherland and Natalija Nogulich), The Barrio Murders (with Noel Guglielmi), Evan Almighty (with Larry Sullivan), and 10.0 Earthquake (with Henry Ian Cusick).

Aside of films, Barrera has appeared in numerous TV shows like The Big Bang Theory (with Stephen Root), Castle (with Stana Katic and Penny Johnson Jerald), Southland (with Michael Cudlitz, C. Thomas Howell, and Regina King), Heroes (with Zachary Quinto), NCIS (with Pauley Perrette), and Pensacola: Wings of Gold (with Salvator Xuereb). He also had recurring roles as Dr. Carreras on NYPD Blue and Domingo on The Bridge.

Barrera married Maria Canals-Barrera and has two daughters.
