Day 4[]
David Weiss was summoned to CTU Los Angeles by Habib Marwan to protect Joe Prado, who was captured by CTU Agent Curtis Manning almost a half hour earlier. He arrived at CTU with a federal marshal and a signed court order from Judge Norton at approximately 12:35am, just as Prado was about to undergo interrogation with Curtis and Eric Richards. The CTU officials had no choice but to halt the interrogation.
Later, when Jack Bauer arrived and found out about Prado's situation, he confronted Weiss and told him that millions of lives were at stake if they could not question Prado. Still, Weiss refused to budge, making Jack question who summoned Weiss to CTU so quickly after Prado's arrest. Weiss refused to state who sent him. Bill Buchanan was similarly unsuccessful in trying to change Judge Norton's mind. Bauer, realizing the time restraints, convinced Buchanan to accept his resignation with the intention of taking on Prado as a private citizen.
CTU then released Prado and he and Weiss parted ways. As Prado was preparing to leave the CTU parking lot, Bauer knocked out the marshal assigned for Prado's protection with a stun gun, and proceeded to torture him. Within moments, Prado gave up Marwan's location. Weiss had already driven away and did not observe any of this.
Memorable quotes[]
- Jack Bauer: Mr. Weiss, these people are not going to stop attacking us until millions and millions of Americans are dead. Now I don't want to bypass the Constitution, but these are extraordinary circumstances.
- David Weiss: The Constitution was born out of extraordinary circumstances, Mr. Bauer. This plays out by the book, not in a back room with a rubber hose. ("Day 4: 12:00am-1:00am")
