David Yip (born June 4, 1951; age 66) played Chinese President Wei in 24: Live Another Day. He's known for playing the lead role of Johnny Ho in the BBC drama The Chinese Detective.

Biography and career Edit

David Nicholas Yip was born in Liverpool, England. His father was a Chinese seaman from the Canton area, while his mother was a native from Liverpool. In 1973, Yip trained at East 15 Acting School in London.

Shortly after completing his training, Yip began his acting career. Through his career, he has appeared in TV shows like Whodunnit?, Doctor Who, Casualty, and Holby City. He has also had recurring roles in shows like Brookside, Oscar Charlie, and Every Silver Lining. Yip is also well known for playing the lead role in the 1981 BBC drama The Chinese Detective where he worked with director Ian Toynton.

Aside of TV, Yip has appeared in films like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, A View to a Kill (with Patrick Bauchau), Entrapment (with Will Patton and Kevin McNally), and Hamlet.
