Deng was an interrogator in Seoul, South Korea who tortured Jason Park at the very start of Day 2.

Using a large electrocution apparatus, Deng and a team of interrogators tried to extract information from Park. After a time, Deng became furious and struck a barrel. He grabbed Park's head in frustration, but soon Park said something to Mina, another interrogator. Mina relayed this to Deng, who ran out of the chamber.

Deng arrived at a small room where a number of American military officials were waiting. One of them, Colonel Graham, asked Deng "when", to which Deng responded "today." Graham then immediately phoned NSA official Eric Rayburn.
