Dissociative amnesia is a condition often brought about by a situation of extreme stress that results in the inability to recall personal memories and details of one's identity.

Teri Bauer received dissociative amnesia after believing that her daughter, Kim Bauer, died in a car accident. She had difficulty remembering things that she should have known very well, like Kim and Phil Parslow, however, more vague memories, such as Tuptas restaurant, were remembered.
