Ed was an agent of the Department of Homeland Security during Day 5.

Day 5 Edit

Ed was sent with an assistant and some other agents by Karen Hayes to the house of Bill Buchanan in search of Chloe O'Brian. Chloe was suspected of being at Buchanan's house (she was helping Jack Bauer board Flight 520), and was wanted for abetting Bauer, the apparent suspect in the murder of David Palmer. Buchanan resisted Ed's attempts to gain access without a warrant, and verbally stalled Ed while Chloe got away. Ed's assistant found evidence that Chloe was present not long ago, but Karen Hayes, who was complicit in Chloe's escape, refused to let Ed and the other agents question Buchanan. Miles Papazian noted that they were specially trained for interrogation, but Karen ordered Ed to bring Buchanan back to CTU Los Angeles anyway.
