Elaine worked on Senator David Palmer's campaign staff during Day 1.

After Nicole Palmer had a breakdown as a result of her family having an argument at dinner, Elaine entered the room to remind David that the time was ready for his speech at the press conference. She held his jacket but did not go downstairs and remained in the suite with Sherry Palmer, Nicole, and other staff and security.

Later Elaine received a phone call from Jack Bauer and gave it to the Senator. She was also present at the party later, celebrating Palmer's success.
