During Day 3, two Marine F-18s were mobilized by CTU to shoot down the helicopter that was attempting to rescue Stephen Saunders after the trade for his daughter went sour.

During Day 4, fighter jets were scrambled to destroy a stealth missile carrying a nuclear warhead over Los Angeles. Capt. Clarke, pilot of an F-18, found and destroyed the missile before it detonated over the city.

During Day 5, a Navy F/A-18 from NAS Point Mugu was sent, under the orders of President Charles Logan, to shoot down diplomatic Flight 520. President Logan was informed that Jack Bauer commandeered the flight to retrieve evidence which incriminated him, so he attempted to have it shot down. Jack forced Scott Evans, the co-pilot, to land the plane on the freeway. Later, the military scrambled fighters to destroy the Natalia, a Russian submarine which had been commandeered by Dawn Brigade terrorists. The fighters were called after Jack and Christopher Henderson had neutralized the threat within the sub.

Two Navy F-18s were sent by Vice President Noah Daniels to level an oil platform owned by BXJ Technologies. The American government needed to destroy the an extremely sensitive piece of Russian technology known as an FB subcircuit board, stolen by federal fugitive Phillip Bauer, which was on the platform and about to be illegally given to the Chinese military. The fighters fired upon the platform with air-to-surface missiles, destroying it, and the nearby Chinese submarine turned back for home.
