[edit] Background information and notes
- Fiber optics are long, hollow, thin, transparent fibers made of glass that are used to transmit light over a distance. The glass fibers, which are approximately the diameter of human hairs, are coated in two layers of plastic, which create a perfect mirror inside the fiber.
