Fifty Years Inside the Kremlin: A Survivor's Story was the memoir of Valery Illyushin, a political adviser to numerous leaders of the former Soviet Union and the reformed Russian Federation. Leo Kerne helped write the book.

In his report on the House Special Subcommittee's investigation, Marc Cerasini included an excerpt from page 324 of the memoir, in which Illyushin suggests to President Vladimir Putin that he look to Victor Drazen's Black Dogs secret police force as inspiration in quelling the rebellions in Chechnya.
