Maxwell, along with General Bansgrove, Colonel Shaw, Major Snyder, an admiral and other high-ranking officers, were briefing President James Heller on the potential targets that Adrian Cross would attack by the defense override module when they received the news that multiple explosions occurred aboard the Chinese aircraft carrier Shenyang, apparently the result of the using of override module. They watched the live feed sent by Defense Intelligence Agency of the carrier sinking, and President Heller order USS Massachusetts, who was responsible and nearby, to initiate all rescue efforts.
