Biography and career[]

Fernandez studied Broadcast Journalism at Arizona State University. From 1990 to 2004, she worked as a television and radio reporter for various stations like KTVK, KCOP, and KPNX in the area of Phoenix and Los Angeles. Fernandez was also a contributing reporter for affiliate networks ABC and CNN.

Fernandez was also owner of CineColores Productions, a company which produced documentaries and docu-dramas. She also worked as a columnist for Immigrant Magazine for two years. Fernandez is the co-author of the non-fiction book Dead Ringer, and was a writer, producer and director of the 2002 short film Native Wisdom.

Fernandez is currently an Adjunct Professor with California Specialized Training Institute where she provides Crisis Communication Training to Public Information Officers in the region. She is also the owner and CEO of The SoundBite Specialists, where she provides media training consulting services and coaching.
