Nicholas Offerman (born June 26, 1970; age 53) played Marcus during Season 2 of 24.

Biography and career[]

Nick Offerman was born in Joliet, Illinois but grew up in Minooka, Illinois. His mother was a nurse and his father was a teacher in nearby Channahon. Offerman attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign from 1988 to 1993, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After that, he and a group of fellow students co-founded the Defiant Theatre, a Chicago-based theatre company.

Offerman continued to work in theaters, until his first film role in 1997 on the film Going All the Way. After that, he has appeared in films like City of Angels (with Colm Feore), Treasure Island (with Pat Healy), Murder by Numbers (with Neal Matarazzo), Sin City (with Powers Boothe and Jude Ciccolella), 21 Jump Street, The Men Who Stare at Goats (with Glenn Morshower), The Kings of Summer (with Mary Lynn Rajskub), and We're the Millers.

Despite his work on feature films, Offerman is more known for his work in television. Since his recurring guest-starring role on 24, he had brief stints in shows such as George Lopez, NYPD Blue (with Ricky Schroder and Esai Morales), Gilmore Girls and American Body Shop. However, he has become well-known for his role as Ron Swanson on the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreations from 2009 to 2015.

Offerman also commonly appears on the Adult Swim series Children's Hospital. He is also married to comedic actress Megan Mullally, with whom he worked on an episode of Will & Grace

Aside of his work in entertainment, Offerman is the founder of Offerman Woodshop in Los Angeles. In 2016, he published the book Good Clean Fun to share his experience as a woodworker.
