First Lady is the unofficial title of the wife of the President of the United States. Although the First Lady has no official duties or authority, she has traditionally taken on such responsibilities as hosting White House functions and championing specific charities and causes. In some cases, the First Lady might exert considerable influence over her spouse. As Mike Novick told Martha Logan, "You have influence that supersedes any constitutional rank."

While five presidents have been shown on 24, only one First Lady has been shown, Martha Logan, wife of Charles Logan. Wayne Palmer is also married, though his wife has not, as of yet, been shown on 24. David Palmer was divorced before he took office and John Keeler's wife died several years before he was elected President. Though note that historically, in cases where a President is either widowed or unmarried, usually a female family member of the President will assume the title and duty of 'First Lady'.
