The Fish and Game Department was a government agency with responsibility for protecting California's natural wildlife.
The Fish and Game Department purchased the 10-acre property at 21911 Kipling Avenue in Saugus, repurposing it as the Saugus Wildlife Preserve. However, this was merely a cover to conceal the Class 3 detention center built underground near the region's center. The land itself was poorly suited for supporting wildlife.
