Forum: The Situation Room > "Government" category problem

The Category:Government contains not only titles, organizations, and offices, but also characters. I believe this is a problem because the precedent is to create a subcategory strictly for characters. The example I'll use to represent the precedent is this one:

Category:Day 1: contains no characters, but has a subcategory...
Category:Day 1 characters: contains only characters

But, with Category:Government there are both characters and non-character entities inside it. It is not only unprecedented but also rather disorganized.

Proposed solution: I will go through the Gov't category, isolate all of the characters, and add them to a new subcategory to government called Category:Government characters with a description such as: these are characters involved in politics who have been elected or appointed to their positions.

Sounds good? If no one responds, I'll assume this is common sense and will proceed. I bring this up here only to explain the issue and seek any opinions for an exception, before I go and unilaterally act. – Blue Rook 10:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)talkcontribs

Sounds good. Do you think a more IU title like "Government officials" or something would be more appropriate? Or do you think it's best to go with the consistency of the category titles all using the OOU "characters"? --Proudhug 16:03, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
They don't all use the OOU title "characters", check out Police officers and Dawn Brigade separatists. Some certainly do, and need to be changed to IU labels (3 come to mind: Secret Service characters to Secret Service agents, CTU characters to CTU agents, and US Armed Services characters which I created, whoops... do you agree that those changes should be done?). But the rest, like Day x characters and Day x antagonists are strictly OOU and so can have "characters" in the labels.
I went with the "Government officials" label option because it's an IU grouping. – Blue Rook 05:34, 24 December 2007 (UTC)talkcontribs
