Franklin D. Roosevelt, commonly known by his initials FDR, was President of the United States during the 1940s.

In 1943, Roosevelt became the first President to travel in an airplane, aboard a Boeing 314 "flying boat." In 1944, he switched to flying aboard a C-54 Skymaster dubbed "The Sacred Cow," establishing the tradition of each President having their own dedicated aircraft. (24: The Ultimate Guide)

During wartime, Roosevelt signed an executive order sanctioning the internment of 200,000 Japanese-Americans. Wayne Palmer mentioned that most historians considered the action to be a shameful mistake. ("Day 6: 6:00am-7:00am")

  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 - April 12, 1945) was the 32nd President of the United States (1933-1945), and the only president to serve longer than eight years. The only President elected more than twice, he was elected four times but died shortly into his fourth term.
