Yusuf Amar is taken into custody.

During the beginning of Day 6, Mr. Amar was arrested by the FBI at his home in Granada Hills on suspicions of terrorism. His son Ahmed was confronted by Stan and an accomplice, who tried to break into his house, and Ray went over to send them away and take Ahmed over to their house for the time being.

After staying for breakfast, Ahmed attempted to return to his home to deliver a package to Fayed, only to be attacked again by Stan. Ahmed retrieved the package and killed Stan, and in the process took the Wallaces hostage after Scott witnessed the killing. Ahmed forced Ray to deliver the package to a man in exchange for a component to a suitcase nuke, which Ray then had to deliver to Fayed at their base in Valencia. Ahmed released Jillian, but was ordered by Fayed to kill Scott. CTU, however, had learned of the hostage situation from a phone call by Jillian, and was able to shoot Ahmed before Scott was hurt.

After the hostage situation had ended, however, CTU agent Curtis Manning attempted to assassinate former terrorist Hamri Al-Assad outside the Wallaces' home. Manning was killed by Jack Bauer to prevent Al-Assad from being harmed. Minutes later, one of Fayed's suitcase nuclear bombs was set off in Valencia to the northwest, killing Ray, many of the terrorists and CTU personnel, and 12,000 others, with the explosion visible from Granada Hills and much of the L.A. area. The attack set off panic throughout the region, with many residents packing up and trying to flee the city. Abu Fayed drove through Valencia soon after the blast, en route to a safehouse apartment, and called Darren McCarthy for help finding someone to reprogram his remaining four nukes. Jack Bauer, still in the neighborhood, helped a pair of helicopter pilots, Chuck and Jeff, whose chopper had crashed onto a nearby building after the shockwave. After freeing Jeff, Jack called Bill Buchanan, deciding he wanted to stay on the case and find Fayed. ("10:00am-11:00am")
