Helen Stupin was a reporter from the L.A. Times during Day 3.

Helen got word that there was apparently a "toxic accident" at the Chandler Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. She called Gerry Whitehorn, President David Palmer's Press Secretary, to see if it was related to the national red alert status. Although she had not heard much, her call to Gerry concerned him enough to approach the President about the incident. Palmer had his brother, Wayne Palmer, inform Gerry that it was a weaponized virus attack, but that news must not be leaked until the threat was contained.
