Iain Smith (born January 8, 1949; age 67) was the producer of 24: Live Another Day.

Biography and career Edit

Iain Smith was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He graduated from the London Film School in 1971, and worked in London for several years as an assistant editor, assistant director or production manager.

Smith partnered with Jon Schorstein to form his own production company, producing television commercials, documentaries, children's feature films and low budget dramas. During this time, he worked on films like The Killing Fields (with Julian Sands) and The Mission.

In 1987, Smith formed Applecross Productions and went on to co-produce films like City of Joy and 1492: Conquest of Paradise (with Michael Wincott). Other films in which Smith has worked are Entrapment (with Will Patton and Kevin McNally), Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes, and Children of Men.

In 2005, Smith was awarded a BAFTA for Outstanding Achievement in Film, and in 2008 he was made part of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to film.

24: Live Another Day is Smith's first production venture into TV shows.
