James MacDonald played an LAPD police officer during Season 1 of 24. He often portrays law enforcement characters. His stunt double for the role was Danny Rogers.
Biography and career[]
James MacDonald was born in Columbus, Ohio. His father was a salesman which forced the family to move frequently. The family finally settled down in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. MacDonald started developing an interest in theater and acting during his school years. His high school drama teacher, Vic Passante, encouraged him to apply to University of La Crosse, Wisconsin. MacDonald participated in numerous theatre productions in leading and supporting roles. After two years at La Crosse, he was accepted in New York's Circle in the Square Theatre School. He also obtained a scholarship for Chautauqua Theater Conservatory.
MacDonald had his professional acting debut on TV a month after graduating. He had a recurring role as "bad boy" Blade on the TV show Another World. The next year, he was cast on the 1987 film Some Kind of Wonderful. After that, MacDonald has appeared in other films like Riff-Raff (with Robert Carlyle), Malcolm X (with Albert Hall), Class of '61 (with Penny Johnson Jerald), Broken Arrow (with Bob Gunton), The Fan (with Chris Mulkey), Space Cowboys (with James Cromwell, William Devane, and Rade Serbedzija), Phone Booth (with Kiefer Sutherland and Yorgo Constantine), Hollywood Homicide (with Lou Diamond Phillips), and Home of the Brave (with Jeffrey Nordling).
