Jared worked for Ira Gaines during the events of Day 1.

Jared was undercover at the Santa Clarita Power Plant as a construction worker. He was placed there to ensure Jack Bauer (who was being forced to help with the assassination plot on Senator David Palmer) would not be able to get help.

At approximately 7:30am, Jack attempted to give a message to a high school classmate Jessica Abrams. When Ira Gaines realized what Jack was trying to do, he called Jared to cause interference. Jared acknowledged the order and bumped between into Jessica, preventing her from getting the card Jack was writing on.
