Detective Jerry Alder worked for the LAPD Tactical Squad and was the partner of Detective Frank Castalano.

Castalano and Alder alerted Jack Bauer and CTU of the suspicious murder of Hugh Vetri. Alder was killed when a group of terrorists attacked the convoy that he was traveling in.
