Komar was first seen in the storage warehouse where the Sentox nerve gas was originally kept. He briefly pointed a pistol at Ivan Erwich when Erwich arrived. In the early minutes of 11am, he, Erwich, Andrei, and a fourth terrorist moved the canisters of nerve gas onto a false SWAT vehicle and fled with them. The four soon met up with American conspirator Schaeffer, and moved the gas onto a much larger truck, headed for port.
Komar appears later when Ivan Erwich ordered him and Polakov to release one canister of Sentox nerve gas at the Sunrise Hills Shopping Mall to test the gas release trigger. Believing it was Jacob Rossler, he and Polakov picked up Jack Bauer and coerced him to assist with the attack. When Bauer refused to cooperate at the mall, Polakov angrily knocked him out. When Polakov was instructed by Andrei over the phone in an alternate method to disperse the gas, Komar went to kill Jack, no longer having any need for him alive. Bauer was awake, however, and after kicking out Komar's legs, he snapped Komar's neck and stole his mask and weapon.

- For his first two appearances as Komar, actor Roman Varshavsky was credited as playing "Team Leader". He also appeared, uncredited, before those episodes as a terrorist during the takeover of the Ontario Airport after 8am, but it is not known if Varshavsky was playing the same character.
