Liz Smart was a nationally syndicated columnist in the United States.

After Senator David Palmer announced he was separating from his wife Sherry, there was a flurry of media coverage and speculation on the cause. Smart wrote an article entitled "Where's Patty?" about the sudden and inexplicable resignation of Palmer campaign worker Patty Brooks. Despite praise from everyone she worked with, Brooks left Los Angeles the night of the primary with no explanation; however, the rumor stated (correctly) that she had propositioned the Senator and had been fired because of it.
