Lucy used to work at Chamberlain Auditorium.
Day 4 Edit
Edgar called Lucy to warn her about the meltdown, and she told him that she was already watching the news coverage about it. He told her to get a ride out of town with one of her neighbors, but she explained that by the time she got outside, everyone was gone and she couldn't get hold of her close friend over the phone as the network was too busy.
Edgar tried to get someone from the National Guard to go pick his mother up, since she was confined to a wheelchair and forced to use an oxygen tank, but he was told that no one could be spared. He asked Audrey Raines to make some calls on his behalf, which she did, but the results were still the same.
Edgar called Lucy again and promised that he would continue to try to save her. She told him that she had a plan, and he told her that she couldn't block the radiation fallout by shoving a towel under her door.
She laughed and explained to Edgar that she did not want to suffer radiation poisoning, and that she wanted to end her life on her own terms. She thanked him for being a good son, told him she loved him and was proud of him, and hung up the phone. She was seen breathing heavily a few minutes later in a split screen.
Chloe O'Brian talked to Edgar later that night after receiving a phone call and let him know that he would be forced to have the funeral without his mother's body.
Memorable quotes Edit
- Lucy Stiles: You have been a wonderful son, Edgar. You've been a gift to me and your father. It's okay. I'm going to a better place and I'll see you there. But not for a long time. You've got a lot ahead of you—great things. ("Day 4: 3:00pm-4:00pm")
Background information and notes Edit
- Lucy's suicide method is unknown.
- In the novel 24 Declassified: Trojan Horse, Edgar revealed to Jack that his mother said that she would take refuge in a sub-basement near the Chamberlain Auditorium in case of a nuclear war. Ironically, she was too late to do this in Day 4 and chose suicide to avoid the slow death of the radiation poisoning.
