Mark Ivanir (born September 6, 1968; age 55) played Trask during Season 2 of 24.
Biography and career
Mark Ivanir was born on the former USSR, specifically in Chernovtsy, in what is now Ukraine. Ivanir immigrated to Israel with his family in 1972, and became part of the Israeli Army.
After completing his service, Ivanir chose to work as a clown. After completing two years in a circus school, he traveled through Europe performing on streets, and with Cirque Pawelles. Eventually, Ivanir chose to formally train as an actor, studying at Israel's Nissan Nativ. After that, he co-founded a theater company with actors from the former USSR called Gesher Theatre.
After some minor roles in action films like Iron Eagle II (with Colm Feore) and Delta Force 3: The Killing Game, Ivanir was cast in Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning film Schindler's List. After that, he moved to London to study with Philippe Gaulier and actors of the Theater de Complicite. In 2001, he moved to the US where he has been working as an actor since. He has rejoined Spielberg twice with appearances on The Terminal (with Jude Ciccolella) and The Adventures of Tintin (with Phillip Rhys).
Ivanir has also appeared in TV shows like Nikita (with Xander Berkeley), Fringe (with John Noble), CSI: Miami (with Megalyn Echikunwoke and Michael Rodrick), and The Unit (with Dennis Haysbert and Max Martini). In 2012, Ivanir appeared with Kiefer Sutherland in an episode of Touch. The episode was directed by Ian Toynton.
In 2015, Ivanir had a recurring guest role on Homeland. The show is developed by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, and features collaborations from many 24 alumni like writers Chip Johannessen, Patrick Harbinson, and David Fury, and composer Sean Callery.
