Mark Kaner was a high-level advisor on the staff of Senator, then President, John Keeler.

Day 3[]

Kaner was the presidential campaign manager for John Keeler during Day 3. Mark advised Keeler to go on the offensive regarding David Palmer when the latter suddenly left during the presidential debates in order to attend to the threat of the Cordilla virus. This advice turned out to be unwise, since Palmer raised the threat level shortly afterward. Keeler had Mark call Alex at the Pentagon to find out more details, but before he could he received a call informing him that Sherry Palmer wanted to see Keeler. He allowed her up to see the Senator, but was asked to step out of the room. ("9:00am-10:00am")

Day 4[]

403 Mark Kanar

Mark, on a teleconference call with President Keeler

By Day 4, Kaner had been appointed to a high position in the Keeler administration. He spoke to President Keeler by video conference about the kidnapping of Secretary of Defense James Heller on American soil by terrorists. Mark told the President that all the codes and protocols to which the Secretary had access had been changed. Another advisor, Melissa, informed the president and his staff that it would be impossible to stop the terrorists from broadcasting Heller's planned execution. Kaner then stated that the only way to stop them would be "at the source", by finding and rescuing Heller.

Background information and notes[]

  • Though the identity of President Keeler's White House Chief of Staff was not established, Kaner is perhaps the most likely possibility.
