Biography and career[]

Mark Thompson was born in Washington, DC. He studied at Colgate University and then at Oxford University in the UK.

Thompson started his news career reporting on science and environmental issues for KRON-TV in San Francisco. Eventually, he was promoted to nightly weather anchor. After that, he was a weather, science, and lifestyle reporter for KTTV FOX 11 in Los Angeles and then on Channel 13. Thompson has also worked as a reporter for KMGH-TV in Denver, Colorado, and WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York.

From 1998 to 2001, Thompson hosted Guinness Primetime on FOX for 3 seasons. He has also hosted numerous events and served as announcer on shows like American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, among others. Thompson has also worked as a producer and is currently a managing partner in Santa Maris Entertainment.

Since 1995, Thompson has had various roles on TV shows and films, usually appearing as a newscaster. Some of the TV shows in which he has appeared are The X-Files (with James Morrison), Commander in Chief (with Harry Lennix and Ever Carradine), Ghost Whisperer, and Nip/Tuck. He has also appeared on films like Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow.
