Megalyn Echikunwoke was born on Washington to a Nigerian father and a Caucasian mother. Her last name means "leader of men". She has a brother called Miki and a sister called Misty. She was raised on a Navajo Indian Reservation in Chinle, Arizona.
She was discovered when she was 14 years old and some time later and a year later, she starred on the TV film Creature alongside Colm Feore, Matthew Carey, and Rick Ravanello. After this, her family moved to Los Angeles where she has starred in several TV shows like "Boston Public", "ER" (with Paul McCrane), "What I Like About You", "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", "Supernatural", "Veronica Mars", and more recently "Raising the Bar" (with Currie Graham). She has also had recurring roles on "Like Family", "That 70's Show" (with Kurtwood Smith), "The 4400" (with Penny Johnson Jerald), and "CSI: Miami" (with Evan Ellingson).
Aside of her TV career, Megalyn has appeared in films like Funny Valentines, Great Lengths, Hitched, and Who Do You Love.
