Megan Matheson was the care of Kim Bauer during Day 2. She lived with her parents Gary and Carla at 12 Blue Tree Drive in Hancock Park.

At the start of Day 2, Megan Matheson was running through her house screaming. She ran into a bedroom and hid under the covers of the bed. Kim Bauer, Megan's au pair, emerged from the bathroom and asked what Megan was doing. Megan explained that she was hiding from her dad as part of a game. Gary entered the room and asked Kim if she had seen Megan. Kim innocently asked what she looked like, and Gary described a wart on her nose, to which Megan emerged from under the sheets to protest, and Gary began to tickle her as Kim laughed. Megan then ran off to hide again. Shen then called for her dad to find her. After eating breakfast, Megan played with Kim on the driveway, learning how to skateboard. After Megan fell down, she was sent to the backyard so Kim could talk to her father alone. When they were done outside, Carla sent Megan and Kim upstairs to play.

While Megan played in her room, she and Kim overheard Gary and Carla fighting. Gary came to the room and tried to get in, but Kim said that they were in the bathroom they didn't hear anything. Gary explained that Carla had an accident. After a brief scuffle with Kim, Gary grabbed Megan, who fell to the ground and hit her head. Gary received a phone call with a business associate, and while he was busy, Kim snuck Megan out of the room. Carla gave Kim the keys to the SUV, and told her to get Megan away from the house.

Kim and Megan managed to get away, and as Kim drove towards the police station, Megan rubbed her head where she was hit and complained about the pain. Turning down an alley, the pair are blocked in front by Gary in his car, and behind by a backing van. Gary asked Megan to get out of the SUV, but she refused. Gary used the remote to unlock the van doors, and Kim and Megan got out of the vehicle and ran. Gary attempted to lure Megan out of hiding by telling her that Kim would only try to hurt her. Megan complained about the pain in her head again, and that she felt funny. Kim insisted that they had to leave the hiding place, but Megan didn't feel well enough to leave. Kim instructed Megan to wait in hiding under some boxes while she went to make a phone call. After several minutes, Megan went looking for Kim. She crossed the street to go looking for Kim, but soon got lost. She was soon reunited with Kim.

On a bus, Kim and Megan traveled to CTU. Megan asked if Kim's mother cried a lot, and Kim explained that her mother had passed away, but her father was still alive. Megan asked if Kim made her father mad, which she answered that she did, sometimes. Megan said that she always made her father mad, but Kim explained that her father's anger had nothing to do with Megan, and that he was wrong if he indicated otherwise. Kim then promised to never let him hurt her again. Kim and Megan arrived at CTU just as Eddie Grant's van exited. Kim assured Megan that they were safe, just as a bomb timer ticked down. Kim and Megan were redirected outside of the building for the evacuation, and told that their meeting with Tony would have to wait. The bombs went off in the building as people tried to take cover. In the garage below, people who were injured or dead fell around survivors who were frantically trying to escape, including Kim and Megan.

Megan suddenly started convulsing. One of the EMTs rushed over and attended to her, explaining to Kim that Megan was seizing up. Megan was taken to St. Virgil's Hospital for medical attention. Gary then arrived at the hospital to take care of Megan. He told her to get her coat so they could leave. While Gary was distraced, Kim walked in with her boyfriend, Miguel and told her to come with them. Kim lead Megan down the stairs and asked her to trust her. Megan started crying and asked to go back, because she's afraid her father will hurt her. Kim persuaded Megan to continue so she would be safe. Meanwhile, Gary yelled at the nurse again to find Megan. Kim, Megan, and Miguel were bout to leave when they noticed a guard covering the exit, and they found a place to hide until he passed. Kim and Megan continued to try and make their way to safety when they were found by Gary.

Before he can get to them, however, Gary is attacked and knocked unconscious by Miguel. Kim told Miguel to take Gary's car keys and take his car. Miguel and Kim were driving on the highway as Kim called Carol to let them know they were on their way, when a police officer pulled them over for speeding. Kim explained that she worked for Gary, that the car was his, and that she was Megan's au pair. The officer returned to the vehicle to call in the information. The officer then returned to tell them that he was going to let them go with a warning, but to be careful. As the officer started back to his patrol car, he noticed blood dripping from the back and asked them to open the trunk. Miguel opened the trunk to find Megan's mother Carla, whom Gary has beaten to death. Kim and Miguel were then placed under arrest.

At the police station, Kim spotted Megan being led out by Officer Brown and called out to her. Megan and Kim embraced, and Megan told Kim that she was going to be with her Aunt Emily, who lived in Santa Barbara. Kim rejoiced and promised that they would be together again soon. As the aunt signed the paperwork and left with Megan, Kim and Miguel were happy that she'd be safe.
