[edit] Summary
Jack Bauer has just been assigned by Division Command as the new Special Agent in Charge for CTU Los Angeles. His first assignment is to head up mission Albatross, to protect the recently-defected Irish Republican Army member Moira O'Neal.
O'Neal, the architect of numerous terrorist activities in the UK, used to work for businessman and IRA financier Michael Donovan. While working with Donovan, she discovered that he had financed not only her group, but terrorist operations all around the world, with the sole motivation of profiteering. Disillusioned with not only Donovan but the violence to which she'd dedicated her entire adult life, she turned herself in to Division.
Fearing that some of her former associates will try to kill her before she can talk, CTU transfers O'Neal to a safe house in the Arizona desert until the CIA can debrief her. Suspecting that the CIA won't give them the full report, CTU takes the opportunity to debrief O'Neal themselves. Agents Dillon, Solof, Taylor and Landon are assigned to assist Bauer.
Using information given to him by double-agent Nina Myers via her European employers, Donovan dispatches Tim McGinnis and his crew of hitmen to eliminate O'Neal at the safe house. Three of the agents are killed, but Jack is able to escape with O'Neal and Solof as the safe house is destroyed by a missile launcher. Chasing them across the desert, McGinnis and his crew destroy a gas station and a CTU Phoenix helicopter. He eventually catches up with Bauer and O'Neal, but is killed by the final bullet in Jack's gun.
As CTU prepares to send a team in to Donovan's library to collect the evidence hidden there, Nina assures a contact over the phone that the information she provided can not be traced back to her.

- Moira O'Neal: (shackled inside a helicopter) You'll pardon me if I don't shake hands.

- Jack Bauer: Not really.
- Jack Bauer: We are trying to keep you alive, Ms. O'Neal. Let us do our job.
- Moira O'Neal: You could call me Moira...you know, while we wait to die.
- Trent: Your landing was way better than his.
- Dave: Thanks.
