[edit] Counter Terrorist Unit

These are characters that worked at CTU during the events of Operation Hell Gate.

Tony Almeida - Led the raid on Green Dragon Computers and assissted Jack Bauer throughout the operation.

Jack Bauer - At the time of Operation Hell Gate, Jack Bauer was the Special Agent in Charge of CTU and eventually thwarted the attack of the CDC airliner filled with influenza on top of the Hell Gate Bridge.

Chet Blackburn - Chet Blackburn was an assault team leader. He led the team that stopped an initial test of the Long Tooth Missile Launcher.

Cindy Carlisle - The only surviving member of CTU Cyber Unit Team Alpha. She successfully directed the tactical assault on the terrorists threatening Washington, D.C.

Ryan Chappelle - Ryan Chappelle was the Regional Division Director of CTU LA, and frequently chastised Jack during the operation for either not reporting back to Chappelle or for not following protocol.

Michael "Mickey" Chen - Member of CTU Cyber Unit Team Alpha. Mickey was five-foot-nine and 300 pounds. He had a habit of giving computers female names, which Jamey Farrell said was the closest he would ever get to romance. Working at Green Dragon Computers, Mickey triggered a boobytrap that spilled hydrochloric acid on himself and Danielle Henkel, killing them both and destroying the computer they were working on.

Gina Costigan - Gina Costigan was an old friend of Jack Bauer from their days in the LAPD SWAT team. She was part of the assault team that stopped an initial test of the missile launcher at LAX. In the course of that mission, she was killed. She was 28 years old.

Phillip Keenan - An agent at CTU Seattle.

Carlos Ferrer - Carlos Ferrer was an agent with CTU Washington. He was sent to establish contact with Jack Bauer and take Caitlin O'Connor to a safe house. However, he was murdered by Omar Bayat, who then assumed his identity in order to lure Bauer and O'Connor into a trap.

Danielle "Nell" Henkel - Member of CTU Cyber Unit Team Alpha. She was killed when Mickey Chen set off a boobytrap that sprayed hydrochloric acid on them both.

Dae Soo Min - Dae Soo Min was a programmer hired to deciper the Korean-language codes on the memory stick recovered in the LAX raid. She played a key role in discovering the terrorists' goals.

Nina Myers - Nina Myers provided Jack and the rest of CTU with tactical information and intel.

Jason Ridley - Jason Ridley was Ryan Chappelle's "dapper young assistant."

These characters worked in government offices other than CTU.

Fiona Brice - A former lover of Frank Hensley.

William Cheever - A New York Senator whose career stagnated until he hired Dennis Spain as his campain manager.

Jeffrey Dodge - FBI Bureau Chief in Los Angeles. Dodge was divorced and easily distracted by Jessica Schneider's charms.

Henry Johnston Garnett - Director of the Center for Disease control.

Frank Hensley - Frank Hensley was an FBI Special Agent and decorated Gulf War hero. He was captured and presumably tortured in Desert Storm and was replaced by a Iraqi operative who led the Iraqi faction in the Hell Gate conspiracy. His fake was killed by Jack Bauer after wounding Jack.

Roy Goodman - An FBI Special Agent.

Hideki Saito - An undercover operative working to infiltrate Yakuza gangs in Los Angeles. His real name was Ito Nakajima.

Jessica Schneider ' Jessica Schneider was a Captain in the Marine Corps and the daughter of influential Texas congressman Roy Schneider. Her gung-ho attitude toward field work landed her and Tony Almeida in trouble more than once.

Dennis Spain - Senator William Cheever's hardnosed campaign manager and Chief of Staff. He was the government faction in the Long Tooth conspriracy and was to be given $300,000,000 for his role. He had evaded federal custody as of the Prologue.

[edit] Afghani terror cell

These characters were either part of the terrorist group masterminding the day's threats or hired by the terrorists.

Omar Bayat Omar Bayat was an assassin working for Taj Ali Kahlil. He killed CTU Washington agent Carlos Ferrer and tried to kill Jack Bauer, but that failed and he was forced to kidnap Caitlin O'Connor in order to get to Hell Gate Bridge.

Taj Ali Kahlil - Taj is the brother of Khan Ali Kahlil. He was the leader of the Afghan function in the Long Tooth plot. He was killed by Jack Bauer on Hell Gate Bridge while trying to hit the CDC flight with the 1918 Type A Influenza Strain with the Long Tooth Missile Launcher.

Khan Ali Kahlil - Khan Ali Kahlil is the brother of Taj. He pretended to be Taj when infiltrated by Jack Bauer. He tried to kill Jack, but Jack killed him.

Shamus "Shea" Lynch - Shamus Lynch was the brother of Griffin Lynch. Shamus was attracted to Caitlin O'Connor. He sent Liam with a attache case to give to Taj. Liam saw the FBI in Taj's store and left. Griffin decided that Shamus needed to kill Liam for not delivering the case. Shamus was killed by Liam.

Griffin "Griff" Lynch - The brother of Shamus Lynch. He was 10 years older than Shamus and led the Irish faction in the Long Tooth conspiracy. He was an ex-member of the IRA. He was shot and killed by Jack Bauer on Hell Gate Bridge.

Tarik - Packaged the Long Tooth Missile Launcher units and guidance systems for transport across the U.S.

[edit] Tatiana's Tavern

These characters appeared near Tatiana's Tavern.

Alexi - Bouncer, also employed for general protection by Georgi Timko. He was shot and killed in an attempt to defend the bar from assassins trying to kill Timko. Jack Bauer thought that he had fought and been captured by Afganis in the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan.

Beru - One of two waitresses/strippers employed by Georgi Timko.

Nicolo - Bartender. He was shot and killed in an attempt to flee the tavern.

Olga - Two of two waitresses/strippers employed by Georgi Timko.

Georgi Timko - Georgi Timko was the owner of Tatiana's Tavern. Georgi later helped out Jack and CTU by providing tactical support at LaGuardia and JFK airports.

Yuri - Yuri was an unassuming old man hired to sit by the door and wait for the right time to use his AK-47.

These characters appeared around the bar, The Last Celt.

Detective McKinne - A homicide detective who answered the phone when Liam O'Connor called to check in on his sister. McKinney was investigating the murder of Donnie Murphy.

Donnie Murphy - Donnie Murphy was the owner of The Last Celt and a former gang member who spent more than a decade in Sing Sing. He limped due to a decades-old kneecapping. He knew almost nothing about Griffin and Shamus Lynch's criminal activities, but was murdered by Griffin anyway.

Caitlin O'Connor - Caitlin O'Connor was a waitress on an expired visa trying to make a life for herself and her brother, Liam.

Liam O'Connor - Liam O'Connor was Caitlin's 15-year-old brother. He lived with her above the bar and periodically ran errands for Shamus Lynch.

These are minor characters in the novel.

Mamie Green - Mamie Green was an eldery woman working for Wexler Business Storage. She had been with the company since at least 1957. When Caitlin O'Connor set a fire in the building, Mamie tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher, but was forced to run when it turned out to be larger than either of them thought.

Katherine Hensley - Frank Hensley's ex-wife. She was the daughter of an influential Federal Court judge, who helped his son-in-law get a job at the FBI.

Wen Chou Le - Owner of Green Dragon Computers.

Tina - Milo Pressman's clingy girlfriend, who called several times an hour to check up on him and weep copiously at his absense. His personalized ringtone for her cell phone number was a Green Day song, but the ringtone for her land line was "My Heart Will Go On."
