Sergeant Paulson was an officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department during Day 4.

Sgt. Paulson responded to a roadblock called by Sgt. Dennis McGrath to capture Jack Bauer, who held up a convenience store in Somis. He and his men arrested Jack, but when CTU Los Angeles director Erin Driscoll confirmed that Jack was working to protect national security, Paulson opened all his resources to Jack. He helped Bauer get back to trailing terrorist lead Kalil Hasan.
