Philip Winchester (born March 24, 1981; age 35) is an American actor who played Colonel Shaw in 24: Live Another Day.

Biography and career Edit

Philip Winchester was born in the United States. His mother was British. Winchester graduated from Belgrade High School in Belgrade, Montana in 1999. He then lived and worked in London, England, attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Winchester's acting career began with an uncredited role in The Patriot (1998, co-starring Silas Weir Mitchell). Winchester graduated from Belgrade High School in Belgrade, Montana, in 1999, before relocating to London, England and attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He has acted in numerous productions of the Royal Shakespeare Company, notably as Edmund in the 2008 production of King Lear opposite Ian McKellen.

Since 2000, Winchester has appeared in films such as Thunderbirds (2004, with Brady Corbet), Flyboys (2006), The Heart of the Earth (2007, with Joaquim de Almeida), and Solomon Kane (2009). From 2008 to 2009, Winchester starred in the lead role in NBC's Crusoe, also starring Joaquim de Almeida, Mark Dexter, and Sean Cameron Michael. He appeared in a recurring role on Fox's Fringe in 2010, starring Kirk Acevedo and John Noble. Winchester also starred as Leontes in the Starz series Camelot, airing from 2010 to 2011.

From 2011 to 2015, Winchester stars as elite Section 20 operative Sgt. Michael Stonebridge in Strike Back, which also starred Liam Garrigan and Rhashan Stone and featured appearances by Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Sean Cameron Michael, Sivuyile Ngesi, Branko Tomović, and Nigel Whitmey.
