Polakov was a Dawn Brigade separatist who worked for Ivan Erwich during Day 5.

Believing he was Jacob Rossler, Polakov and Komar picked up Jack Bauer and tried to release a canister of Sentox nerve gas at a local mall. When Bauer failed to give Polakov the correct code, they knocked Bauer out and handcuffed him to a chair. Bauer was able to free himself and killed Komar in the process, but Polakov escaped. CTU Los Angeles was able to track him back to Cal's mechanic shop where Erwich was apparently waiting. Polakov killed himself to elude capture.
