Biography and career Edit

Riley Bryant Smith was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Russ and Roxanne Smith. He was raised in Marion, Iowa, on his parents' horse ranch where he became an accomplished rider. Smith competed in horse shows during his youth earning championships in various tournaments.

Smith graduated from Alburnett Junior-Senior High School in 1997. Originally, he intended to earn a college degree while dedicating himself to horse racing. However, he was spotted at the Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids by a local talent scout, and flew to New York City to compete at the International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) Convention. As a result, he was signed to a Tommy Hilfiger modeling campaign, and used the money he earned to pay for acting classes

Smith's first acting role was in 1998, when he appeared in an episode of One World. After that, he has appeared in shows like Freaks and Geeks, Gideon's Crossing (with Ravi Kapoor and Lesley Fera), Raising Dad, Joan of Arcadia, Criminal Minds (with Hayley McFarland), 90210, and True Blood. Aside of TV, he has also appeared in films like The Circle (with Brittany Ishibashi), 10,000 Days (with Peter Wingfield), Gallowwalkers (with Jenny Gago), Eight Legged Freaks, Radio (with Chris Mulkey), Not Another Teen Movie (with Mia Kirshner), and Bring It On.
