Roy Grothy was a CTU Los Angeles field operations agent active during Day 2.

Grothy was supposed to have Day 2 off from work, but because of the elevating Second Wave crisis, Tony Almeida told Michelle Dessler to call him and Lindauer in for the day. Jack later said that he wanted either Grothy or Knoll to be the agent that picked up Kim to take her out of the city. ("Day 2: 8:00am-9:00am")

Agent Grothy was sent to escort Kim Bauer discreetly out of Los Angeles when her father Jack Bauer pressured CTU to protect her from a possible nuclear threat to the city. The plan was for Grothy to pick her up at the house of Megan Matheson, and drive her to the San Jose home of her aunt Carol. Because Kim had fled with Megan from the murderous Gary Matheson, Grothy was unable to find her. Jack and George Mason posted Grothy there to wait. Soon after Grothy arrived, George Mason reassigned him to investigate a nearby address in Culver City where a coyote had been hired to deliver forged Second Wave passports, against Tony's warning that Jack would be displeased. ("9:00am-10:00am")

An hour later, members of Joseph Wald's militia bombed CTU Los Angeles, killing thirty-three employees. It is unknown whether Grothy was in the office at the time or among the deceased. ("10:00am-11:00am", "11:00am-12:00pm")
