Salazar was a member of Rojas drug cartel prior and during Vanishing Point.

Salazar was with his accomplice, Hector, smuggling a truck bomb when they were confronted by Sgt. Philip Locklear and Brad Dallas. Hector murdered Locklear but the closeness of the gunfire to Salazar's face caused him agony. Curtis Manning, who was their prisoner in the vehicle, took the opportunity and struggled for the weapon and during this fight, Hector's neck was snapped and Salazar was shot as the gun discharged. With his last strength, Salazar managed to get out the truck and shot Dallas to death. When he attempted to kill Curtis, Curtis shot him instead.
Carlos Boca informed Pizarro Rojas of the loss of these two enforcers later.
