The Securities and Exchange Commission (or SEC) is an independent agency of the United States government responsible for regulating the nation's stock and options exchanges, as well as enforcing federal securities laws.

Roger Taylor was allegedly investigated by the SEC for criminal insider trading. According to the investigation this led to his suicide.
